STRATEGIC ISSUES
Inadequate friendly environment for early learning and stimulation is still a major challenge facing young children that hinders them to realize their full potential at their early stages of development in Tanzania.
STRATEGIC RESPONSE
To Increase access to quality Early Learning and stimulation services for young children 0-8 in Kagera Region with policy links and holistic service delivery by 2025
Early Childhood Development- ECD
STRATEGIES
1.1.1 To increase number of children completing pre-school education by 50% in all the 20 Day Care Centers operated by Tumaini Letu in order to prepare them for primary education. 70% of the participants will be orphans and most vulnerable children by December 2025
ACTIVITIES
To conduct baseline survey to determine number of children in need of kinder and pre- primary education
To conduct research and fact finding on the situation of kinder and pre- primary education in Kagera region
Procure and distribute education & playing materials to day care centers
Construction and renovation of day care centers
Construction of toilets and pit- latrines in Public and Community day care centers
Improvement and construction of play grounds in kinder and pre schools
To train Pre- school teachers on care and support of MVC, day care centre management and other pre-school related issues
To capacity building trainings on day care center management and pre- school teaching methodologies to the newly recruited pre- school teachers
To conduct capacity building training on day care management, roles and responsibility, networking, and collaborations to school committees
To conduct awareness creation meetings and stress the importance of kinder and pre-education to young children
To facilitate community and public school teachers with Para- professional course at Montessori Training College
To conduct community resources mobilization events for supporting ECD programs
To the identified most needy children from pre- school to primary and support them with school with school uniforms
Establishment of new day care centers
STRATEGIES
To increase community ownership and capacity to implement Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs and support children with disability
ACTIVITIES
To conduct awareness creation meeting on the importance of Early Childhood Development to community through the use of multimedia approaches
To mobilize communities to establish day care centers
To mobilize community members to contribute crops during post harvesting period to support ECD programmes within their communities.
Procure and distribute IEC materials on ECD and protection
To conduct base line survey for disabled children
Facilitate two pre- school teacher with special education
Support disabled children with special materials
Advocate for the rights of disabled children to LGAs
Establishment of stimulation, play groups and kids clubs in communities
Train Para- professionals on kids club management
Support kids clubs and play groups with playing materials
To organize fundraising session
Resource mobilization from community and other stakeholders on establishment of ECD centers and services delivery
